Just dropped: A new virus that could cause the next major pandemic

A new virus, the Langya, similar to Covid, causes severe respiratory symptoms and potentially fatal pneumonia. It emerged in China and belongs to henipaviruses, has a concerning 70% fatality rate, and is known to jump from animals to humans. X-rays of infected individuals show lung conditions reminiscent of Covid. While there's no vaccine or treatment yet, the WHO has Langya high on their research list.
