The study analyzed the prices of 2,322 LEGO sets from 1987 to 2015, noting that once a set is opened, its rarity increases, driving up the price. To maximize returns, one simply has to buy every Lego set that will be discontinued within the next 6 months and wait 12 months to sell them.
